Default Convt top motor replacement

Need help please ! My 07 Conv. top motor went bad and I installed a used replacement today. I can't get it to work right and not sure what I am doing wrong. It says to fill with Dex. auto trans fluid but doesn't seam to want to work and just makes noise like it's trying to pump. I thought maybe it took time to work air out of the system but I can only get it to raise the top after many minutes of pushing the button and adding more fluid. I'm wondering about the lines now as well ... anyone have a picture of how they go ? Any help would be appreciated. Had to do this on my '90 and it was a quick job

Thanks,

Not sure about the line routing but on my 02, if the fluid is real low, it takes a long time and many cycles to get it working right. Sounds terrible until it is close to full. I also had to assist it by hand the first couple of times when I let it get to low. I need new cylinders and fill it about every three months or so.

Sounds like you still have air in the lines. Pull your seat belts all the way out. If you smell fluid it means your lifts are leaking and you're pumping it in to the interior panels. What is your current level of fluid?

Where in MD do you live? I'm in Dover area of DE if I can help.

I don't see it leaking but I just replaced the pump and it seams full till I try operating the top. It will go about half way then stop even though pump is still running. I add more fluid and I can finally get it all the way up. I've been too busy last few days to mess with it and just looking for any tips etc. I am hoping I can just keep running it back and forth and adding fluid and it's just air in the lines or something.

That sounds like all you need to do...cycle and fill....repeat.
