Default Help With Battery Issue

08 GT. Second battery since car was new. 165,000 miles. Changed the headlight switch and the day after the Shaker radio had "OOOOOOOO" across the face and making wierd noises. I started the car, which was a weaker than normal crank, and the stations were all on AM. Drove car to work and had a similar weak crank when I left. Battery acid is full and is a light purple? color. 14v at idle and the 12.5V off. Shows good with a load applied. Battery is 2.5 years old. I drive 120 miles per day X 5. Don't know if its related to the switch change, but all this happened after it.

Have you had both the battery and the alternator load tested? The stock alternator is known to be a chronic problem with the S197's.

If this just happened, all a sudden, after you did something with the car, I'd certainly go back and recheck each one of the connections you tinkered with. Could be a bad ground, could be a bad connection across the battery positive to battery post.

Years ago I washed down an engine. Next day the battery played dead as a doornail. Wouldn't even push start popping clutch. Terminals looked just fine. Pulled connections, cleaned them up anyway, and it started right up. More current, put a new battery on my FJR1300 with a "Power Commander" and it wasn't "right". Cleaned up terminals even though I had already seen them when I put in the new battery, and the "Power Commander" worked right again. Just saying.
