Bad defrost smell after rain storm
Hey Guys,
Ever since we had a big rain storm my defrost has been putting out a bad smell that smells something like squished sugar ants. The smell goes away if air is turned to vent (no defrost running) and then comes back as soon as I turn on the defrost (windshield or windshield/floor).
My car was covered with road grime and de-icing road chemicals (magnesium chloride) so not sure if that makes a difference.
I let the car warmup with defrost on for 10 minutes everyday before work.
The passenger side floor board was dry and I don't see any leaks under the hood anywhere.
Any ideas on what the problem might be?

Your interior AC coils have mold on them...
When activated by the moist rainstorm air
they started to produce the odor.

Thanks for the responses. I haven't been online for a while but now I'm back I am curious about how to get to the cabin air filters. So you remove the passenger side plastic cowl piece under the hood and the filters are right there?

The replacement filter should have replacement instructions with it...
