I'm with you tho, don't want anything super loud at low RPM with the top down. I do want loud 3000+
I heard good things about the GT500 Axle Backs but I do not think they make them for 05-09. All I can find on them are 11-14

Anyone with or have rode in a vert, top down with SLP Louds can comment would be most appreciated.

I really like the deep sound of my Bassani axle backs. It has a nice rumble at idle and a good roar at WOT. No crackling sound like some of the higher pitched mufflers on deceleration.

Another thing I heard about SLP is most the sound is projected out the rear so it's not super annoying in the cab.
Would love to hear from anyone about either Pipes or SLP riding in a vert.

Thanks jesse I'll look into the Bassani.
(I totally highjacked this thread todrick. My bad, just in the exact same boat as you)

I originally put a set of pypes pype bomb axle backs on my car last summer, was not impressed. I also followed them up with a catless x pipe (also from pypes)

No complaints on the x pipe, but I was not impressed with the pype bombs.

The fitment on both the x-pipe as well as the pype bombs were perfect in my instance, took hardly no time at all in the garage with an impact.

Cold start with catless x pipe (disabled cat light off in the tune also):

Idle at operating temp:

I do unfortunately do not have any clips prior to the x pipe.

todrick,

I have long tube headers, with Off road H Pipes, and Pypes Violator mufflers. It is a sick throaty growl. we get compliments on it all the time and people asking what we did. It is kinda loud though, when you drop a gear to pass someone it screams. Now that being said as far as fitment I don't think it was too bad, however I had someone put it on. They didn't complain about it though. just my two cents worth... ill see if I can figure out how to load a video for you....

I rode in my neighbors 07 GT with SLP Loudmouths yesterday. All stock but the SLPs. Windows down to get as close to vert top down as we could.

Cruising, not too bad. Louder but I would say just a bit less than double what stock is. Drone was not too bad but I could see it getting real old on a long trip. Would consider swapping out the SLPs back to stock for a long road trip.

WOT was Beast!! I would say 2 /12 to 3 times louder than stock. It sounded pretty Bad ***! If you want to hear the full V8 power sound this will do it.

Overall I liked them and I think I'm going with the SLPs for my 07 vert.

I HAD Pype Bombs. After owning them for ~2 years, one of the welds rusted out and my experience with their customer service was FAR from good. I would never recommend anything Pypes to anyone. If you want to do it right the first time, go with Corsa Performance or Borla. I LOVE my Corsa Xtremes! Well worth the money.

Thanks so much for the advice guys. Leaning more towards the SLPs now. Road trips wouldn't be too much of an issue since we use my wife's SUV for it. Plus, I don't mind the drone too much since I usually have the music going pretty good.

*Update
Installed the SLPs in my 07 vert yesterday.
Sounds Bad ***! Deep rumble low RPM and really crazy wild at WOT.
Also I noticed as other mentioned the sound is well directed behind you. From in the cab you can hear it's pretty intense but can tell the loudness is behind you.
Cruising in the neighborhood was totally chill. Not annoying at all.

My previous Mustang I went only half way and got mufflers that were med sound level and was always disappointed. I'm VERY happy I went all the way this time with SLP Loudmouths!
