Default Should I buy this supercharged 2005?

Hey all, thanks so much for letting me join the forum!

I test drove a supercharged Mustang today that had 427 HP and 391 TQ at the wheels, with a lazy tune. I can't imagine how much *** it would kick with an aggressive tune.
I fell in love with the car. It was an amazing drive. There's only one thing that I'm worried about; it has NO engine reinforcements. I have no idea how these 4.6s hold up to the extra power.

It has almost 100,000 miles, and it has been built since 30,000. It hasn't had any problems, but I'm not sure that it will last forever.
Is it okay with how much power it has?
Will I be able to boost it up with a smaller pulley and a more aggressive tune without it blowing up?

Here is a link to the Classified http://www.ksl.com/auto/listing/1160306?ad_cid=4

He is asking $15,000, is that fair?
Thanks so much in advance

Quinn

That's entirely too much id start with 8 or 9k. I see it has a brenspeed tune so the tune will be good. Is the engine going to be ok. Depends on how well the owner took care of it and how much he beat on it. If you do it buy it and do the motor you will be looking at about 10k for a stroker build.

I wouldn't pay 15k for it. Also, I wouldn't go with anymore boost and I would leave the tune alone if you do buy it.

Like everyone said I would not boost it anymore unless you rebuilt the bottom end with forged components otherwise your apt to blow the rods right out the bottom.

Price, all depends on where you are and what the demand is for the car. As spring/summer rolls around prices will go up a bit. 15K for this car...dunno. Haven't looked at S/C Mustangs aftermarket.

While completely true you couldn't even begin this build for the asking price, that's neither here nor there. Either you are ok buying somebody's modified car and crossing your fingers all is well or you aren't. Whether that price is 8k or 15K, that's the question you need to ask yourself.

The stuff he's done here is really good, if it's as is reported but, 4.6s on stock internal hit the blow point at 450. The stock rotating assembly isn't up to much more than that.

Find another car, too many miles. Unless you have $10k to build the motor if she blows.

Alright guys, I've been referred to this car
http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...65462352&Log=0

I have talked to the owner, and it has 20,000 miles on the build, but has stock internals too. On a dyno, it hit 471.09 HP and 409.98 TQ.
He said that the dyno was 'adjusted' to sea level, meaning it makes far less power up here at 4300+ feet (Utah) and guessed that it had somewhere in the lower 400's in horses.

With the lower miles on the car and only 20,000 on the build, would it be wise to buy?
Would it be a good idea to throw some forged pistons and/or rods?

He says that the car has never had a problem with the performance bolt-ons.

Thanks for the continued feedback

Well it looks solid. You have to keep in mind that motors can let go. I know some have more and run solid some have had less power and blow. If your financial state can let go of some cash if the motor let go then do it. Price is too high you need to beat him down on it. And everyone will state that they are car guys and don't beat on them when they have FI. I don't think I beat on mine but I take it the track and let the car perform as it suppose to. Have him show you the dyno run and check air/fuel at WOT. It really just depends on your financial state. If you can build the motor then great. If you can build it yourself you will save some money and if you cant then its 10k. Good luck on nigotations and let us know how it goes

For 100,000 miles I'd offer $11,000(at sea level) and no more.

You'll have your hands full getting the next shop to determine what you could do from here. Erik
