Knock in front suspension

Knock in front suspension
My 2007 GT has ~ 50K miles and this spring it developed a knock in the right front side when I go over a bump. I checked the tie-rods, sway bar, and ball joints, everything seemed OK. I changed the struts (I figured it was time, esp since I live on a rough road), knock still there.
I did search elsewhere on this forum, saw nothing I have not tried.
Any ideas?
Also, I know there is a right way and a wrong way to check the ball joints (loaded vs unloaded), can someone confirm the right procedure?

Check the front brake caliper bolts. I had a knocking noise when going over bumps and rough roads in the right front. I found that when I had my calipers painted the shop did not tighten the bolts to spec and they started backing out after a couple of months.

Thanks for the responses!
I did replace the upper strut mounts. My old ones looked iffy so I went ahead and bought the entire assembly (quick struts), which also saved me a bunch of time.
I checked the sway bar end links but I will check them again.
I will check the front brake caliper bolts as well. I just installed them a couple of months ago; I torqued them to spec and also used 242 Loctite, but it is worth it to check them again.
