Default Broken Muffler Bolt

I was installing chrome exhaust tips on my 2007 mustang, and one of the bolts that closes the clamp around the tailpipe broke. These are the OEM exhaust tips, Ford part # 5R3Z-5K238-BA. Does anyone know the size/name of this bolt or where to get a replacement?

Type the part number in Google and a bunch of items come up. Looks like you might have to buy a whole new tip

You can also just go to the autoparts store and pick up a universal clamp. I'm sure they'll have something similar.

Is the clamp spot welded to the tip?

That's just a standard bolt used in all those strap-style clamps...look up a 2.5" accuseal clamp (stainless). You can get one for around $10, and if nothing else you can just remove the bolt from it and use it on yours.

I broke the bolt when removing my exhaust as well. I found a replacement hex head bolt at a local hardware store. It was much cheaper and easier than trying to find the OE bolt. It works just fine. I did reuse the washers that were from the OE bolt.

Yes, the clamp is spot-welded to the back of the tip. I stopped by the Ford dealership today. They did not have the bolt, but they did have a clamp assembly, which I bought for $7. I removed the bolt and successfully installed it on the exhaust tip. Mission accomplished. Thanks everyone for your comments.

Yep this "is real life." Heck, you can spend $7 buck on one drink at Starbucks! Clamps with the bolt assembly on the Internet actually cost more even before shipping charges. I thought $7 bucks was a decent price from the dealer for the OEM part, and I didn't have to wait several days for it to arrive.
