MGW finally installed
Just thought I'd share a few thoughts on the MGW install on my 14 GT. This is not the new race spec version. I bought it last year and it's finally warm enough to think about working on the car. It still will probably be another month here in CT before the salt gets washed away enough to bring it out.
First off, their video is great. Sat the tablet on the passenger seat and just followed it along. You will (at least I did) find some subtle differences from the video to the actual job on your car. I attribute that to their product evolving over time. It all went very well. Allow yourself about four hours of relaxed work, lunch included. Everything you need is in their kit right down to the loctite.. The old shifter came out with no issues. My 14 is a premium so I had two connectors to disconnect once I got the console off. Also, there was nowhere to grip inside the console as the video indicated to pop it up so I took a plastic putty knife and pried the back of console up a bit where it joins the lower and it popped right up. I was a bit worried about breaking the tabs on the console but it really is pretty robust. Removing the factory shifter was pretty straight forward. Came apart and out as the video indicated. Installing the MGW was easy as well. You do the lower box from under the car and then finish up on top. The rubber boot is a bit of a pain, but just take your time, follow the video hints and it works out fine. It was the trickiest part of the job, but still no big deal. Last item is the heat shield underneath.
I wish I could drive it to verify but it seems much more solid than the factory shifter. Nice crisp snap-ins to the shifts at least in the garage :-). Not much shorter throw that I can tell at this point but then again that was never a problem on my car. Ill follow up with a review when I can take it out in a few weeks.

Just an update. Had a chance to take it out today for 15 minutes. After a good rain yesterday, the salt is petty much washed to the side of the road. Big difference in smoothness and crispness of shifts even at 3/4 throttle. Especially notable is 2 to 3 where you just push hard and it's right there. Prior to the mgw I frequently had issues with binding with the 2/3.
