what exactly do people mean when they say they were speed shifting? I have been street racing all my life and always thought it was just changing the gears fast. Is there a special method for speed shifting?

This is when you push in the clutch, shift gears and release the clutch without raising your foot off of the gas pedal.....you gotta do it fast or you'll bump the rev-limiter

we used to call it power shifting, lime stang is right on the money, not to good for the tranny though if not done correctly

Yep, Daddy was teaching me about it the other day. Just stay on it. You can scratch 'em in 3rd!! Feels wierd at first. A shorter throw in the trans would be nice. I wonder if big brother knows you're doing it if you need warrantee work down the road.
