Thumbs down 2012 5.0 transmission failure

So my 5.0 started to feel notchy at 15k miles. Especially when cold. I had the TSB which felt great at first but now its back and worse. I must shift slow when cold or itll get stuck. Even then itd still notchy.

Now with the clutch fully compressed a fast shift to 5th gear is a straight grind everytime even when HOT.

Is there any other update on these failures and is the dealer usually aware and willing to replace a trans? Sounds like a long shot. Im really unhappy with ford piece of **** transmission. Wtf good is 400hp if i cant shift faster my grandma or at all.

If it's still under warranty, then a dealer should replace a defective tranny at N/C to the owner. But he may be reluctant, or even refuse, to do so if it has any 3rd party performance mods.

I purposely left it stock 100% for this reason. Id like to.get a shorter clutch and a triax but not before this. Im only at 20k miles.

Lucky you made it to 15,000 I got to 3,000 before the Reverse, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th syncros went out and was unable to shift. Took me prolly 2 months to get it resolved and 3 trans tear-downs to get it right. However I'm now at 35,000 miles and running great. Just take it in let em know whats up and should be good to go. Also don't let them fool you I had all the mods listed below and they still covered it under warranty.

You shouldn't have any problems with it being stock. Push for getting the whole unit replaced if you can.

The dealer took it apart 3 times? I thought they would just replace it the first time and wouldnt go that involved.

Just take it in for warranty.. No need to try and troubleshoot it yourself when it's no charge to you if the dealer does it..

I just want to mention, I've had two transmissions from two Ford vehicles replaced, my F150 several years ago and my Mustang recently.

The replacements have been excellent, and they also upgrade your warranty to better than new. In your case, I wouldn't be surprised that your new tranny will include a 7 year or 100K non-deductible warranty on the new transmission.
