Question Best Cams for Performance (4.6)

In your opinion, what are your go to cams to recommend based solely on performance gain. Cyber Monday is upon us and I'm going to be ordering a set of cams. Her specs are below.

Comp 127200 (XFI NSR stage II) if you aren't into replacing valve springs. Smooth idle and big top end gains. You would have to know you were listening to a cammed engine to tell the difference. Expect low rpm torque loss.

Detroit rockers, ***** Thumpr, and Hot Rods will have the lopey, old school idle, but do not necessarily offer the best HP gains.

FRPP is good for sound and moving the power band, but the Comp Cams will offer the best gains at the cost of needing new springs

I've heard Cushman Motorsports has some of the best cams for actually making power.

The most powerful cams available that are safe with production valve train.

Compatible with production springs, followers and lash adjusters up to 6800rpm

50hp gain(SAE-J1349)with the stock intake and M-6049-463P CNC heads at 6500 rpm. 30hp gain without CNC heads.

**Requires custom calibration to achieve optimized performance**

D rockers and H rods are worth 20+ to the wheels. Yes they sound great but in the end save your money and just get a supercharger. If I were to do it again, I would not get the cams. I have the D rockers. Supercharging is the sh*t and worth every dollar.

Cams are fun and supercharging costs 5x as much as a set of cams. So...yeah.

Kind of depends on your goals really and when i first started modding thats basically what i was told. But as my earnings increased so did my desire to have a bad *** car. If you really sat down and thought about how u wanted to make power what would it be. NA or induction. If your going for all out power why get cams. To be honest when I had mine installed they claimed 20hp gain but my but dyne didn't notice much. I suspect 30 would be very minimal as well especially since its in the higher rpm range. like 808 said you should just skip to supercharging if you have the funds for it. if not then Id take a longer look at your goals

I love my Comp cams VSR. They have a definite lope (turns heads) and have a real kick in power. 2nd gear, 40mph, and punch it

If you want the most area under the torque curve, stick with the stock cams. All the aftermarket performance cams shift peak HP/TQ to higher rpm so what you'll gain higher up you'll lose lower down.
Cams that require phaser limiters narrow the powerband and make it more peaky with even more low rpm torque loss.
NSR cams allow you to keep the stock valve springs but you'd be limited to 6800rpm unless you upgrade them.
VSR cams require upgraded valve springs and thus allow the engine to rev past 7k rpm but you'd really need to add CNC ported heads, an FRPP intake manifold, and a 62mm throttle body to maximize that higher rpm potential.
All of the most popular cams (Hot Rod, Detriot Rocker, NSR 127200) will produce a 15-20lbft torque loss below 3000rpm but there are differences higher up:

HR cams: Even with the stock cams between 3500-4500rpm, torque gains thereafter, peak gain 30rwhp @ 6500rpm.
DR cams: Weaker than stock cams up to 5100rpm, torque gains thereafter, peak gain 35rwhp @ 6500rpm.
NSR 127200: Weaker than stock cams up to 5000rpm, torque gains thereafter, peak gain 42rwhp @ 6500rpm
