Default Aeroforce interceptor gauge install.....2014 GT

Anybody install this gauge in the drivers side AC vent using a Roush vent pod? Did you cut a groove in the vent outlet to accomodate the wire that goes from the gauge to the OBD port?

I think they advise against the vent installation, most likely for when you're running heat in the colder months, when the vent air will be heating the gauge up instead of cooling it. I can tell you that if the gauge overheats, the display basically goes out (I no longer park facing the sun in the summer for this reason).

My suggestion is something like this ↓↓↓ where it's in almost a heads-up-display location without being in your direct line of sight all the time. I've since molded the pod to fit up a little better and lost the little cardboard sunshade, but you may be able to find a pod that fits up better to begin with. Might be running the display in 'negative', not sure on this, though.

Actually, I've got the dual gauge setup now, with the second gauge only getting installed temporarily for track days on a dash-top Velcro pad where the GoPro can see it.

I really should have moved it to the pad over the speedometer here. Dash does get a bit cluttered during track time . . .

Thanks Norm. I was aware of the heat problem in the vent location. I stuffed it and sealed it with a piece of aluminized insulation. I don't use the car much on the street and even less in winter. I was disappointed that so many of the parameters that the gauge monitors are not provided by Ford, i.e., cylinder head temp. I would have liked to have that one and a few others.

Maybe a few more parameters will be supported once enough people with Ecoboost S550's start asking for more.

I have the Roush vent pod. It's been a year since the install so I don't remember specifics but I didn't have to cut anything. Just remember to unplug it prior to running the vehicle health report else the report will error out.

The Mustang resides in SoCal so I rarely, if ever, have the heat on. If I had a complaint it would be the gauge blocks the vent well enough that hardly any AC air comes out.
