Ok: here's what's been done to my 2006er:
new battery; (cd players are cheap & are known to kill batteries ( the player keeps trying to load cd's, even when the engines off) so i gotta pull the radio fuse;
new ball joints (thanks to potholes & ice haha)
new belt
& leaking steering pump
after 12 years

When it comes to my wife fusion I just buy whatever is available at the time at the autoparts store. Infact I just changed her fronts for the second time and the rears for the first time. It has 115k on it. As for mine I run mine at the track so Ill buy better quality stuff. To be honest I've been thinking of changing my entire brake setup but I think my deep dish wheels are not the best choice for that option right now. Could be a change coming this spring.

If your DD your car Id imagine that you will be okay with most grade of brakes. Think you will do some spirited driving or track it then you should certainly consider upgrading.

Thanks,

just an update with a little more info...got to talk to my buddy briefly...

  • buddy says the interior is nice, leather is not torn...
  • no water intrusion anywhere and certainly not on the passenger floor...
  • the tires may have been new Pirelli's 3 years ago...
  • the clutch was replaced at some point...
  • the motor was replaced because the car bottomed out and leaked the oil out and not from a front end collision as I had thought...

we'll see when weather permits and he gets some time to have me over to look at it...I asked if we are going to do the deal to not waste his time with a new battery (provided we can jump start it) or wash it up as I can do those things and keep the cost to him at a minimum...

Of course I'll report back here IF this happens and update on what I find...

Thanks for being supportive everyone...hope to be a first time Mustang owner before the end of the month...
