I'm not sure how the '11 "uses it better". Sure the extra 112hp/70lbft is welcome and adds more straight line speed, but it also makes the car a lot more tail happy and traction on wet roads becomes a real issue.
You could drive the '06 at 8/10 and just about get away with it, whereas the '11 will end up in a ditch even if you drive it at only 7/10. The chassis cannot cope with the extra power and it needs serious suspension/tire upgrades to tame it.

Couldn't all the things you've mentioned be simply due to the fact that the original '06 suspension components will have had 5 years more wear and tear than the '11's? I'm sure the '06 would handle much better if you just refreshed the worn items.
