Is my exhaust aftermarket?
 

I've got a 2011 GT with just under 36,000 miles and my H Pipe is rusting out. I bought a Ford Motorsports X pipe to replace it and it does not fit!

If I bolt it up to the pipes from the cats, then the back of the X pipe does not land at any junction. The back of the X-pipe is actually right at the crossover tube of my current H-pipe. Another thing I noticed was that the X-Pipe I bought is 2.75", but the current exhaust is 3"

I bought the car used with less than 9000 miles on it, and it sounded like a factory exhaust. I added a Rousch axle back which made it much louder (and it bolted up with no issues).

Am I going to notice any performance loss if I downsize to 2.75'? Does anyone sell re-make pipes to go from the X-pipe to my current axle back?

Hey Marc......OEM exhaust is stainless and would not rust out like that.....so that is aftermarket or home made!!
I have a spare MRT 3" "H-Pipe" I'd sell ya but you already bought the X-pipe.......lotsa SS over axle pipes available that should get ya fixed right up!!

Thanks for the reply. I actually stopped by a speed shop today and they confirmed it was aftermarket. Strange that is the only aftermarket part on the car, and it had stock mufflers!

I'm now searching around for a stock mid-pipe. The speed shop said I wouldn't notice a difference going from 3" to 2.75. They said they've put 900 HP thru the stock exhaust.

Did they cut the ball flanges off of the down-pipes with the cats?? If not, I have the MRT Mid-pipe (H-Pipe) I'll make you a deal on!!

Looks like it's all bolt-on. I just want to replace everything from the cat pipes to the muffler since they used cheap aluminized tubing that is all rusting now. I've already got the X pipe.

Double check the connections from the cat pipes.......they should be rounded "Ball" type ends to fit into your "Socket" type connections on the X-pipe using a special clamp that pulls them together for a good seal!! Hopefully the previous owner didn't cut them off but it sure looks like maybe they did??

If so perhaps your muffler shop can re-flare them to accommodate your X-pipe??

Also keep in mind an X-pipe can make your exhaust very raspy with certain aftermarket mufflers!!
