Help 2014 GT New Rims/Tires

Hey guys! I need to get some new rims and tires for my 2014 GT. I have the basic stock 18x8 rims with 235/50/18. I would like to get a bit wider tire all around, was thinking 245 or 255. I was told I need to run a wider rim like 18x9 to upgrade to a wider tire or just upgrade to 19s. Not sure what to do here. What are the pros and cons of getting a bigger rim. Will having a taller rim make me lose speed? Is there any good recommended rim size? Not sure what to do here. Any suggestions? What are y'all running? Also, what are some good websites to purchase rims besides American Muscle? Thanks in advance-Nick

How fussy are you about running tires that are the full diameter of those 235/50-18's?
What do you mean by "lose speed"? Less speed possible in each gear, or lower acceleration?

You can either start with a tire size (with enough load capacity) and choose a rim width that your size choice properly fits, or you can pick a rim width and choose a tire size that properly fits that and has enough load capacity. If you do go with 19's, you'll need to look 5 profile points lower than the same width tire in 18's.

255/45-18's on 18x9's or even 18x9.5's will fit if the offset is around +45 and will be close to the same height as your OE tires. I ran that tire size on 9.5's for a number of years. But when the 255/45's wore out I replaced them with 265/40-18's, which are definitely a bit shorter. I also have 285/35-18's on 18x11's mainly for road course driving (and getting to/from the track) that are shorter still.

Over the years I've purchased wheels from Tire Rack, Discount Tire, and Vorshlag, and Stranoparts offers a small selection of wheels as well. All of these places are more likely to give you better help than AM for 9.5" or wider, Vorshlag and Strano in particular.

I am getting blank pages for some areas. When I go to the For Sale section, ITEMS for sale,
I get a blank page.

Stranger still . . . here it is, ten days after the date stamp on Post #1 and three days after the last post in the thread and I'm getting a notice of reply to topic that only contains post #1's text.

I wonder if nflagg has decided where he's going to go with this wheels & tires..
