How's is your SC'd engine holding up with the boost? Any problems worth mentioning? Please include mileage with SC, brand, driving habits, and any other extras you've added such as pulleys, MAF, etc... Dyno numbers, boost levels, and how agressive your tune is would be helpful too. I'm trying to see how these 3V Engines are taking the boost...

After reading about the procharged engine that popped at 9lbs on it's second 1/4 mile run I'm beginning to wonder. Poor Bryan

I haven't any info yet, have a saleen blower to install as soon as i put my car into the shop for the winter, but have these thoughts to offer. Most motors should stand about a 35 percent increase in power, and not complain too much. After that, i would think it will be rolling the dice, due to the engineering of the stock components for the combustion temp and pressure levels they were designed for. The 550 hp GT motor needed a better crank than a stocker, kept breaking in testing. They upgraded that for 550 hp on a 5.4. Our 4.6 has a shorter stroke, but isn't as good as the GT crank i am sure. Ditto rods and pistons. The block should take 800 hp according to what Jim at JDM thinks at this point, according to our conversation, he didn't specify if it would need bottom end mods to do that. Roller lifters may fail at higher rpm due to inadequete springs, if pushed beyond about 6200 rpm as well. Without the factory data on individual parts testing, we just have to guess at this point.
My plan is to not risk it beyond about 430 hp, and never above 6200 rpm.

430 at the flywheel right? 430RWHP is closer to 500 at the fly. That's my concern and curiosity. I see a lot of ppl with 400-450RWHP and wonder how long this engine will take it. I guess the only safe route (aside of doing nothing) would be the base saleen blower with a conservative tune. 400 (or 340RWHP) and leave the rev limiter enabled where it is. Then see how these other mavericks hold up and save up for forged internals...I really want to know what the weakest link is though, as I'm sure most do. I know a lot of ppl have been getting the forged crank and new stiffer springs. Wonder what the connecting rods and driveshaft can take. Ford made an outstanding economical and fast car but it really needs a lot of work to take much more it would seem.

GJP05, Lostsoul, anybody...anything to add?

Drive shaft is the weakest point. I already had one replaced and that was before the S/C. Stiffer springs are more for traction then for durability. I haven't had any issues with my S/C and I am around the 450rwhp mark. The modular block should handle 700-800hp but the rotating assembly will start to go before to long if you are over 500rwhp. If you keep everything stock then you can run 450rwhp with a good tune. Once you exceed the 450rwhp mark then you should look at forged internals, fuel pump, drive shaft, suspension, clutch, and brakes.

Meant valve springs I remember you saying something about the driveshaft...how much did it cost to replace/upgrade? I'm really waiting to see what 2005redgt (bryan) finds when he opens his block up. He's sporting similar numbers to you. What kind of mileage are you at with the SC?

About 2000 miles with the S/C. But there are others that have been running theirs for over 10000 miles. Dealer replaced my drive shaft with another stock one. I will be upgrading as soon as I can find one I like. Ford racing should be comming out with an aluminum one soon. I would like to see what he finds also, but from what I read some were thinking it might have been in his tune. I think the stock parts will hold up depending on how hard you drive your car.
