OK, so I went to the track on Sunday..., it was hot and the track was slippery.. My mods are a C&L intake with the Brenspeed 93 tune... 500 miles on the odometer... This was the first time I have ever run the 06, so here are the numbers:

1st pass - 14.2 @ 102 mph - horrible, bad launch, and I completely spun second, also forgot to turn off the tcs
2nd pass - 14.0 @ 102 - bad launch, spun second again...
3rd pass - 13.86 @ 103 - let me friend run this one, he is a better driver..
4th pass - 13.76 @ 104- my friend again
5th pass - 14.0 @ 102 - me again

Not that impressed with the numbers, but they do tell me that the car is definately capable of low 13s. Once she is broken in she will get faster. Also, there was a headwind and the track was slippery. I was coming out of the hole at idle, because I was afraid of wheelspin.

I have the videos, but nowhere to post them. If anyone knows of a place to post them, I'd be happy to share....
Don't let your numbers get you down that is great for a first time out. Just to give you an idea of how many factors can change your numbers just look at your MPH vs. your friends. That is 2 mph different on the same car same day. That is huge. Normally you would have to add about 20 HP to get 2 MPH but just the different variables of you two are making that big a difference. With practice you will get your times down. Different tracks, heat, tires, styles all net different ET and MPH. Keep having fun!

Brent, you sure have a way of ending a thread! Nobody wants to come back after a Brenspeed response. We could have baited this guy for at least a couple more threads!

As was stated your ¼ time does not start until you pass the beam at the staging lane. Think of it as two different “clocks†if you will. One records the time it takes you from when the light turns green until you pass the beam (reaction time) and the other “clock†starts just as you break the beam.

That is why reaction time has absolutely nothing to do with your ¼ mile time. I am not sure how 0.1 second quicker 60’ time works for the Mustang’s but for Lightning’s every 0.1 second quicker on 60’ times roughly reduces your ¼ mile time by 0.2.

For example, in a Lightning, you might have a ¼ mile time of 13.6 with a 60’ of 2.0. Drop you 60’ time to 1.8 and you could improve your ¼ time from 13.6 to 13.2.

By the way I am new here and this is my first post. I am currently seriously thinking about selling my 2003 Lightning and purchasing a 2006 GT Premium Coupe.
the gt's are just as fast if not faster than stock lightning. I raced one....
i have to dissagree... i own a 02 lightning also, that i have spent about 500 dollars on... it runs 12.98... i did 2 free mods to the truck and it went 13.21.... that was just bone stock, with holes drilled in the bottom of the air box, and a trans mod that made it shift harder... as far as trading your lightning for a GT... its a big step from a truck to a car...
