newbie post: professional tune / parts
I just recently purchased a 2005 Mustang GT (manual) and plan on making numerous mods to it (actually have made a few mods already). I am looking to purchase either the Predator or the Xcal 2 tune. I noticed some people mentioned something about getting a professional tune. Consider I am a huge novice at this, I am wondering if I should go that route. How do you find a shop that will do this for you? Do I need to take my car in to a shop or is this something that can be done by uploading/downloading files (by providing details about the car)? I'm in the Northern VA area (Reston/Herndon) area. Also does anyone know of any good mustang shops (or is it just as good to order over the Internet/phone and install them yourself) that do these types of performance work?
THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Hey congrats on the new mustang. So, since youve got a manual car, youre most likely gonna wanto go with the predator(diablo) because of the options you have with the manual. It already has preset tunes, but if you have mods like gears, intake, exhaust, etc, it would really help for you to get a professional tune and have them dyno tune it to get your air-fuel ratios etc all custom to exactly what you have and how you want it. Plan on doing this after all performance mods to truly bring out and unleash the rwhp you want. Look for performance mustang specialty shops around your area. Your ford dealer may know of one, but theres alot of people with dynos who dont know how to tune correctly and may screw up. Make sure they are experienced. Hey good luck and have fun!

JPC (justin's performance center) in glen bunie,MD. also there is another here in MD woodbine motorsports, woodbine MD. you have a manual trans so either the predator or xcal2 will work. also try brenspeed. should be a link here at the forum for these guys they have lots of experience and post regularly.

Thanks for all the help so far! Currently the only mods I have are the Flowmaster American Thunders and a MAC CAI. I'm in need of a tune already. The beautiful orange glow of the cel appeared when I installed the CAI. The mods I do will probably span over the next year or so (unless I win the lottery)! I will check out the links and shops you all posted.

I would go with the SCT tune on your vechile. Sct is one of the only tuning compnaies that I've found to tune heavly modd'd cars/trucks with no problem. A friend is having hell with his diablo, They can't get the a/F right and customer service is something to take into consideration as well.
I know SCT sells their Pre-loaded tuners for $379.00.
