If you get a CAI that uses the hose from the stock filter then you don't need to notch the hood. If you get a CAI with some kind of pipe/tube then you notch the hood from underneath. Pull down the insulation then notch the hood where the elbow of the pipe/tube meets the hood then put the insulation back. You won't be able to see it from the outside and you can barely see it from underneath. Here is a pic you can see the notch in the middle of the pic.
