I'm curious as to how you get 26 mpg with 4.10's...

26 sounds high, I get 23 on the interstate with my 3.73s. I am auto so I know I will get worse than a manual car but 26 with 4.10s? I could see 22 or 23.

I've got a bone stock 05 with the manual, and a round trip to Laughlin got me 25 average (70-80 mph and just a couple downshifts to pass)... I know I can get like 35-40 when the trip is all down hill and the wind is behind me...

Off topic, can you post pics? I would love to see a pic of your Continental, they are very pretty cars.

Sorry, no pics yet (not handy anyway). Mine isn't pretty just yet. I found it in a barn. The engine blew in 1970 and it sat parked ever since. I'm in the middle of a restoration, so it isn't much to look at... production on the verts in the 60's was around 3000 per year, so with the limited production parts are expensive. That makes the going very slow... The really hard part is deciding on parts for my Lincoln, or making my Mustang faster...

Those continentals are beautiful cars. I can see your dilema though because I do like go fast goodies for my stang. Good luck with the Lincoln. You will have to post pics when you are all done with her.

The mechancal red line on these cars isnt' until 6800 in the manual and 6500 in the auto. Mine made power on they dyno all the way up to 6500. Mine shifts at 6300. I don't see how you trapped almost 109. '05s trap low and with 4.10s you shouldn't be trapping that high. Good job though, congrats, that is a great time.

Agreed.

What was your 60' on stock tires? If your rev limiter was set for 7K, how did you shift at 7K without the limiter kicking in? Your car will not take a 7K shift for long. My rev limiter is set for 7K but my shift light comes on at 6400 rpms and I shift at about 6600 rpm and I have A LOT more mods than you. Your motor won't last more than a month at a 7K redline.

My 60ft. was 1.902. Iam in shreveport louisiana so my elevation is probably about 400ft. When I shift it at 7000 it just barley brushes the limiter. I get the mpg. by keeping it under 3000 cruising down the highway. Iwas shocked at the mph also, but with the stock throttle body it still went 107. Believe me I am just as surprised as everyone else.

I am definitely interested in talking to you more about your highway driving. I have 4.10's and I am at 3200 rpm at 70 mph. I have to be under 65 to be less than 3000 rpm. That is my one complaint with the 4.10's is highway practicality. I strongly suggest you think about backing down your rev limiter.
