Air Quality was not that great, 77deg. 65% humidity. I launched the car at 3000rpm and shifted at 7000 1-2 7000 2-3 6500 3-4 and it crossed at about 5800. Gotta Love it!! Less than 2500.00 in total mods, 26mpg and runs consistent 12's.

Please explain to me how you justify shifting your car at 7000 RPMs, when the redline is supposed to be 6000 RPMs? Is there some advantage to doing that? Did you somehow retard the cams to move the powerband up?

No, I upped the limiters to 7000 with the tuner, and have tried shifting at different points. The best explanation I can give is it keeps the momentum of the car up between shifts as well as where it falls back to in the rpm range and torque curve. It just seems to be what the the car likes.

Whats the longevity of this new type of motor with 7000 RPM shifts? In your opinion....

I would think since the rated horsepower is achieved at approx. 5700, you wouldnt have to go over 6500 RPMs to keep in the powerband

The mechancal red line on these cars isnt' until 6800 in the manual and 6500 in the auto. Mine made power on they dyno all the way up to 6500. Mine shifts at 6300. I don't see how you trapped almost 109. '05s trap low and with 4.10s you shouldn't be trapping that high. Good job though, congrats, that is a great time.

define "mechanical redline".......I know on the face of the gauge..redline is 6000ish.....and I know when I have bumped the needle on 6000 RPM, the rev limiter comes on. If you go to the thread "3.73 vs. 4.10", a poster put a gearing chart up at what his chart reflects is what my car does.....approx 40mph at 6000 rpm in 1st gear, approx 70 mph at 6000 rpm in 2nd gear, and approx 100 mph at 6000 rpm in 3rd gear......and I have hit the rev limiter at those points in 1st and 2nd gear.

My rev limiter is set to 6500 with the tune. You are not damaging anything by going past the 6000 red line on the tach. Tune that car there is alot more in these cars than what the factory has given us.

FREAKO....the X-cal tuners allow changes to shift points, torque converter lock-up, line presure, downshifts, max RPM, and eliminates the speed limiting. Also lets us change air/fuel, idle RPM, adjust tire size, and timing. Buy one from Brenspeed and you get three custom tunes of your choice and have the ability to modify it to suit your preference. You WILL have a different car. Mine made peak power at 6000 rpm with the CAI and tune and underdrives. I shift at 6300 so when it falls back I am again coming into my peak power band and pulling as hard as I can.
