One thing which hasn't been mentioned yet is the only warning in the owner's manual. They say to not use the cruise control for an extended period for the first 1000 miles. Other then that...

The way i would suggest is a scaled pyramidal break in period, though it is not necessary, it is very comprehensive. The way it works is to drive conservatively for the first 250mi and then tear it apart and just drive the hell out of it for the next 25 mi (250-275) thus providing lubrication and not restricting the new parts that need full exercise of their use. Finally drive it conservatively again for the next 150 mi or so letting everything full adjut and settle in. And then your car is broken in safely and completely.

If I'd got a GT (mine's only a V6) but... FLOOR IT

Odds are you're gonna get rid of it within 36000 miles, or you've bought the extended warranty to 75K+...
You've got a hell of a car, drive it like it wants to be driven. Mine prefers to cruise at 95 (ish) with the occasional 110

this is true I'm only taking out a 2 year loan on it so by the time the 07 Cobras come out and the kinks are gone I'm gonna order up one of those [sm=happy046.gif]

I totally agree/live by the "drive it like you stole it" quote. I have driven mine that way on several occasions. That's exactly what they're made for. Lots of horses, they need room to run. Let em run!! Anyways, does anybody know if there is a governor on these things? Highest I've hit in mine so far is 120. It moves.

Can't wait to see the new shelby's. I've read and seen pics on it, but I would love to test and or see one. Beautiful cars.

according to other threads I don't think there's a governor...I've cruised mine just over 135 mph (at least according to the factory speedo) and it felt like it could go much faster.

Governors at about 145mph. I've hit it 3 or 4 times and still had juice to give.

with a tune from SCT, you can hit 145 in fourth gear and who knows how fast you are going in fifth (no more goveror)

As for the break in -----You can still see my burn out when I left the dealership on Feb 28th of '05....
