Stock Tune Adjustments

Stock Tune Adjustments
What are some of the adjustments to the stock tune that can be done, if I'm not going the CAI option route? I have read and please post if wrong, but the performance gains of a CAI aren’t noticed until the 4500 and up rpm ranges? Since I'm not a daily driver in this range, and nor do I take it to the track, so I felt this was unnecessary. Have seen a few stock changes to the ford tune that is suggested and wanted to get a few opinions.
Thanks

RE: Stock Tune Adjustments
with the sct xcal2 or a diablo predator almost any function can be changed. they can make you a tune for 87,91.93 octane fuels change timing curves and fuel mixture, if an auto trans shift points and firmness etc. usually they advance ignition timing and get the a/f ratio tuned in a little better than the factory has it. generally you can expect 20-30hp gain and better throttle response from a good tune. it's a different car with a tune in it...way more fun. i didn't have a cai until 2 months (i would't have bought one but it was cheap $100 for a steeda!)ago and noticed no performance difference except sound.

RE: Stock Tune Adjustments
Are all the improvements achieved in one of the canned tunes offered by CL7140 Predator tuner "leggy throttle.etc"? Since I'm not going the route of a CAI and just want to improve the stock tune, maybe just purchasing one of these will do the trick. Or can I just have a shop flash current chip with one of these tunes, and not even have to purchase the Predator?
Thanks,
Mike

not sure if the stock computer can be reflashed without having one. depending on whether it's an auto or manual will determin the best flash tuner. auto=sctxcal2 manual=predator. if you buy one of these from a good tuner they will give you what you want. if you want the t/c turned off for good they can do that for you. in my case i'm going to play with converter lockup and shift points some more. it will also give you the ability to change a few things for you preference...when the cooling fan turns on and off timing and some fuel mixture adjustments. it's worth $400! you won't be sorry you got one it will drive like it should have from the factory once the tune is in.

RE: Stock Tune Adjustments
I'm going with ST MotorSports "www.spankintime.com, which has been suggested on this site. There offering the Predator for $340 and Adam is highly knowledgeable with our Stangs.
