Track times & Time Slips
#361
In case it was missed in the Speed Zone section I'll post in the time slip thread as well.
Went to the track for the first time ever yesterday. I didn't know what to expect but my first run ever was my best ran a 12.72 @ 111.88.
2nd pass was 12.88 @ 111.25
3rd pass was 13.24 @ 111.28
4th pass was 13.46 @ 110.62
5th pass was 13.18 @ 110.54
The variance in times was playing on how the best to launch was. The 13.24 was in Sport shift, and the 13.46 was with advance trac off. My best runs were with the car in D and TC on. I found out afterwards that tapping TC button 2x would have probably netted me better runs.
All in all pretty pleased with a 12.72 for a stock auto with 1800 miles, especially since first time ever at the drag strip with street tires too.
this was vid of my best run.

3.15 to 3.73
Recently changed my 2012 gt Auto to 3.73 gears and 93 octane Bama Tune. Big improvement with only 1 mpg loss highway and about 3 mpg city. However, I took my car to the track and did not do as good as I thought it would. My problem is that in 1st, 2nd and 3rd....I am doing nothing but spin. My 1/8th was 8.5 and my 1/4 was 13.0 at 111mph. Of course, I was using street tires. I believe that I was losing about .8 seconds because of excessive spin off the line. From a 20mph or 40 mph punch, I still get some spin but it rockets to 100. Beat a 2012 Challenger SRT8 from 40mph start, though not by much, but I figure this was pretty good considering his was a $55,000 car and mine $30,000. Think Slicks on the Quarter mile track will do the trick in lowering my ET?

If you go with slicks, they are most likely going to be bias ply....so you will need to get bias ply fronts too.
Or, just get drag radials....if you have to drive to the track that's probably the best choice.
I see some very fast cars on drag radials....
