Default K&N Intake Air Charger

I have been looking at getting this, but I am trying to figure out if anyone else has used it. It advertises 15hp on the '05 GT's, so I would assume it would do the same on the '06 GT. I am sure that the hp gain is rated at the throttle, but this kit is nearly $300, so I am just trying to find out if it is worth it. I want to do some minor mods until I can get some cash to get some bigger things. Any comments or suggestions about other similar products would be good.

I have it and i couldnt be happier. I do like how the C&L is metal though. Im affraid of suffering from heat soak with the K&N but i have had no such problems yet. I would get an intake/tuner package if i were you though. Might as well just get the C&L.

Secter,

Read this ARTICLE on 11 different systems. Personally I recommend the Tunable Induction CAI available HERE, he offers a great price and more power than you'll be able to get from the K&N. If you do opt for the K&N I would recommend a Tuner as well, better safe than sorry.

Yea, I am pretty novice at most of this stuff, so the more swappable it is without require much work is more what I would be looking for. I dont know if I would be very comfortable messing with tuners.

I have the K&N Aircharger. Definitely a noticable improvement in acceleration. You can't beat the throatier sound either. I bought it cause I didn't have a lot of money to spend on a tuner. I couldn't be happier with it. It was easy to install and comes with a dyno print out showing the 15 hp increase. Some people that have dynoed their cars say that they only got a 10 hp increase, but it doesn't matter. I got mine for $200 on ebay. Hard to find that much horsepower for such a cheap price.

Yea, I really want to get the K&N kit because it's a name I am more familar with. However, I was looking at the install instructions, and it seemed to be a a bit of a pain than what it should take. I read over that article, and I love the MAC kit, but the review on it was short. Also, on the MAC site, I only saw to intake kits for the '05 GT's. I have an '06, so I am not sure if it will still work. The tunable would be my next choice, but the green filters kind of make me iffy about it since I don't know much about them. The C&L is just a bit expensive for me. I really did not want to spen more than $200 on intake.

Hmmm, It doesnt really look like it gets a whole lot of cold air. Does it draw cold air from the fender? I have to admit, I havent really seen the 05/06 under the hood (only pics). But it seems to be really chocking from lack of air.
