I'm not sure what the gears would do for your 1/4, though it is possible to install them yourself if you know what you are doing... and obviously you don't if you never done it. I've helped rebuild a rear end before but I could in no way do it by myself because I just don't have enough experience doing it. I'd suggest taking it someplace to get it done professionally, and spend the extra money instead of trying to do it yourself and messing it up.

anywhere from 200 - 300 for labor. if you have can opt for the better gear lube like red-line i'd get that too. as far as 1/4 times they're prolly good for .2-.3 off ET but SOTP is awesome. 3rd pulls like crazy

to bad u r not around central ky, my buddy does it for $75 and he is svt certified. it cost me a dinner for him and his wife at outback for gears, throttle body, injectors and 3000 stall last job he did for me. he charged me a hundred bucks and one trip down the track when he went with me when he did the supercharger install. if anyone lives near elizabethtown ky, that is town the movie is named after, hit me up if u need something done i can get u his number for good cheap labor.

There is already synthetic lube in the rearend.....your center section (rear cover) of the rearend should have a sticker on it that says "Synth. Lube Only".

To do it right, you need a good impact wrench/gun, a dial micrometer with a magnetic base, and the Ford tooling to set the pinion depth properly....you also need a hydraulic press to install the pinion bearing on the pinion shaft....a vehicle lift would be helpful too....
