Default Vibration felt on Emergency brake handle

Has anyone else experienced this. From a dead stop accelerating hard to almost WOT somewhere around 15-20 MPH I feel the vibration on my leg which rests against the parking brake handle.

Default RE: Vibration felt on Emergency brake handle

Is your GT an automatic? If so, a few of us have had a problem with a momentary shutter felt in first gear when pulling away from a stop. It happens at about 2K RPM and is felt in the seat and the e-brake handle. We've had some success by having the drive-shaft replaced under warranty - in my car and at least one other, the shutter has been significantly reduced but not totally eliminated. It seems some of the drive-shafts are "tight" (Ford engineer's term).

The replacement drive-shaft is the same part number as the original. Apparently, some drive-shafts in the production run came out "tighter" than others. The dealer tech told me the Ford engineer said the tight drive-shafts do check out OK on the test bench, so getting a good replacement is basically a crap shoot. My advice is to take it to the dealer, demonstrate the shutter and mention the drive-shaft problem. If the dealer calls Ford tech, they'll probably tell them to replace the drive-shaft. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. It is an auto. I will have them check it out. I think your right with the RPM range. I will pay more attention tomorrow when I take the car out.

Default RE: Vibration felt on Emergency brake handle

I just had my gears replaced from a 3.31 stock to a 3.73. They used FRPP 3.73 gears.

I got the shudder you mention. I didn't have it until the gears were replaced. Oddly though, they didn't drop the driveshaft to replace the gears.

I took it back and they did something to the driveshaft. They told me it was a 2 piece driveshaft so they "phased" it.

I still feel a bit of shudder still. I'm going to drive it some more today and then if it still acts up, take it back.

Thx,

Mike
