what's the difference?

Ganna get one (mach 1 that is) you've got a 2003 or a 2004, as far as i can tell the only difference is some badgeing and the valve covers are a different color.Other than that; are there any other differences that i should know about?Because i like the 04 valve covers but, i like the 03 badges but really,,, badges can be replaced..Are they both puttin out 305 rwhp and, is the suspension lowered on both cars. 1.5 inches right?.....oh yea whichever year, it's going to be black!!!! also what gear doyou get with these mach 1's. Right now im doin 4:10's in a 98 gt- i think i'd like to be closer to 3:90's.

anyway you shaker guys got sweet rides . any help with this would be great

kris one last thing, i don't like the gauges, please tell me im not the only one.

RE: what's the difference?

I dont believe the Mach 1's come lowered stock. Gears I think either 3.27's or 3.55's. RWHP stock is probably around 285-290 or so. I like the gauges and I dont believe there are really any differences.

RE: what's the difference?

Stock, they put out 305 crank, but they are said to put out anywhere from low 270's to mid 280's after they are worn in a bit.

Machs are .5 inches lower than a GT. They have higher spring rates, different front sway bar and come with Tokico Shocks/struts

Machs come with 3.55's stock as opposed to the 3.27's of a GT. 4.10's and 4.30's seem to be the most common gearing to upgrade to. 4v's love to rev and the 5 speeds rev 1000rpms higher than a GT.

I love the gauges and I think a lot of people do. But to each his own.

RE: what's the difference?

My Mach Friend is correct about everything. The only thing I wanted to add is that the 2004 Machs are rated at 310 crank hp. Don't know why. Also, the autos have a cast crank and much lower rpm than the 5spd, which has a forged crank and 6800 rev-limit.
-I like the retro gauges.

The 2004 will not have the small cargo net (for sunglasses, etc.) between the visors on the headliner. HP is the same for both years; Ford simply determined that they had slightly understated it in 2003. 4.10 gears at least, because you're starting from a stock rear gear ratio of 3.55.

RE: what's the difference?

I took a test drive in an 03 the other day, hard to believe there was actually a mach 1 anywhere near me! LOVED it, she handled so fine, and that engine oh man! Too many miles on her tho at 46,600. I am purchasing an 03 azure blue from a guy in CT for 19k and it only has 8200 miles on her. Can't wait to be able to drive her home:)

RE: what's the difference?

alright so in short the differences are badgeing, valve covers and a cargo net nothin else right? oh yea ima 5 speed guyso probably do 4:10's, thats what is in my gt and i guess the guages are all right but either 03 or 04 same car right i was mistaken on the rwhp too thanks for fixin that for me but with some long tubes and bolt ons 300 rwhp is attainable (got a buddy with a lt1 always braggen about being in 300 hp club) sick of it

RE: what's the difference?

You are correct. 300rwhp is pretty easy to get withsimple bolt-ons. I would think with a good tune, off-road pipe, and NO longtubes, you could get close to 300rwhp. But for sure with the LT headers.
4.10s are a must for Machs.
