Banging in the front suspension
Hi guys,i just recently bought an 03 mach. I love the car, and its 100 percent stock. A few weeks after i bought it the front end started making noise like something is loose. It seems like it gets worse everyday. I looked and the sway arm bushings are worn out, but i seriously don't think that could be all it. Steering is tight and the ball joints and wheel bearings feel good. Please Help.

What about the shock mounts/struts? I don't profess to be a world class mechanic here, but I put my mach in a shallow ditch after getting the brain dead idea of trying to take on a TT LS-1 maro from a dig on a wet road, and the right front strut got bent in a little bit. On the way tothe shop to get it fixed everytime I went over a bump there was a wicked loud popping noise, and the mechanic said the spring on that side was catching onthe strut.. About the rattling OP, I"m not really sure.. The rattling's not coming from the engine bay? One thing I do know though, those little plastic bolts they use to secure the front fascia are crap in a stock mach. If one of those has broken maybe the front fascia is rattling against the frame? Just shots in the dark there..

No, actually when i hit the brakes it quits making noise. I can barely apply pressure on the brakes and it quits popping and banging, even over bumps. And its mostly on the passenger side that it makes the noise.

hmmm.. and it stops when you apply the brakes? If the car's not handling worse than it usually does, and the only thing that stops the noise is applying the brakes, I would maybe check the ABS master-cylinder, and/or the brakes on that side.. That's just a guess.. Either that or the wheel itself.. You could try taking the tire and the brake-assembly/rotor off to check the wheel bearings too.. Kind of a pain in the *** to do all that yeah, but it's cheaper than having somebody else do it if you have the tools..
