few questions, buying a mach
Well i am looking into buying a 2004 black mach 1 with 1,406 miles on it.
when i ran the carfax, it says it was purchased in PA with 43 miles on it 8/19/2004 and then sold in Tenn with 1,162 miles on it on 1/8/2008. 15 days later it was sold at a auto auction. It is now located in Nj. My logic is, the dealership bought it and then drove it to Nj. The only thing im worried about is it says it was a fleet car. But with 1,405 miles i really dont think it was used as a fleet car. I am also worried that somthing could be wrong with it because i cant seem to figure out why someone would want to sell it. Is there anything i should look for when i go to check it out?
here is the carfax

they want 25-26 for it
thanks for any help

RE: few questions, buying a mach
That CarFax looks clean. With that many miles on it and a sterling CarFax, I think you're pretty safe - I wouldn't worry at all about it being a lease car. Even if it were for all 1,400 miles (because we all know how bad rentals are treated), it still can't be beat up too bad. Either way, I would definintely drive it and make sure nothing knocks or pops and take it to a reputable ASE mechanic and have them throw it on a rack and see what's what.
But that sounds pretty cherry. Even so, I wouldn't overpay and 25-26 would be. Depends on how bad you want it, I guess, and what you plan to do with it. With those miles and a limited production run, that car could already be tracking towards collector status in some years from now, so overpaying today may not be so bad if you're going to sit on it for 15-20 years.
But if you're going to buy it and drive it like a Mach was born to be driven [sm=gears.gif]then 25-26 is WAY too much and I stand by my 20 tops statement.
NADA on a 2004 Mach 1
you can see that the miles (or in this case lack thereof) only add about 2 grand to the value of a 4-year old used car, so try to stay objective on that. It's a nice car, but it ain't worth 25 large unless you're going to sit on it for two decades and roll it out at shows or to collectors as a 1,500 mile numbers matching example of the best retro cool stuffFoMoCo had to offerback in2004..

RE: few questions, buying a mach
thanks for the feedback.
well we all know how much fun car dealerships are when it comes to pricing, so i need an argument.
I could use the "fleet vehical" to my advantage. Say how they get beat up so on and so forth.
i guess i could find some small things and make a big deal out of them.
