Professional tune in Colorado good elsewhere?
Hey Lads,
I am flying up to idaho to pick up a 2004 Mach 1 that had a professional tune done in Denver Colorado. The drive from Idaho to San Diego is about 1000 miles - will it be ok to drive with that tune? The elevation in Colorado will have affected the Air/Fuel ratio.
Mods are:
K&N FIPK cold air intake
PHP intake spacer
Mezeire Electric Water Pump
Mustang Racing Tech. H mid pipe
Borla Stingers Cat Back
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

C, imo the prof tune serves to compensate the effect of the mods, which I think has a greater impact than elevation. I'm sure the air is denser everywhere else, but there comes a point when tuning can get nitpicky and seem like a drag. I think you are okay with the tune. Any reason the owner felt it necessary to change the water pump? Hey, is this one the grey one you were looking at with the Edelbrock springs?

Hey rygi23,
thanks for the response - that does make sense - I guess I have nothing to worry about.
Good question - I am not sure - I think he just liked the idea of squeezing another couple of hp out of it. It is also a show car so maybe that was part of the reason for doing it - for show. He has the original so I think I will be changing it back to that - an electrical water pump kind of freaks me out.
Nah - that grey one with the edelbrock springs went dead - the guy selling it stopped emailing me so I suspect he sold it. I fly to Boise a week from next friday so hopefully I will have pictures of a sexy CO mach1 shortly after that for ye to have a look at

Mezeire Electric Water Pumps are good for 11rwhp. I think they last around 3000 hours.?
C,You'll be ok driving it at a lower elevation. I would seriouslyconsiderhavingthe tune adjusted to your lower altitude. It won't damage the car, but you won't be at optimal performance on that tune. My guess is that that high altitude tune is going to cut it short on fuel.

Hey Stone629
11 rwhp sounds really nice! I think I will still swap it out anyway though - it worries me thinking about it - I will find out how many hours are on it (I don't think there are many - the car only has 7,000 miles on it!) and try sell it for an appropriate price .
Yes, that makes sense - I will get it in for a tune when I get it home. Thanks for the response,

Clare,
you are going to need a tune for the mile high city. air density is everything. it's why you run better in the summer and i dont. keep in mind the biggest thing with tuning is adjusting the timing and making sure that the AIR/ FUEL will be correct. air without fuel is just air

Stone629, will do bro.
USMCrebel - the tune that is on it currently is for the mile high city - I am taking it to the 20 foot city (San Diego) - but I agree - I will still need a tune to make her sing
Can't wait to get her back for some picutures for ye!
