Normal???
My Mach iscurrently in storage, but I took it around the neigborhood for a little run. For the first couple shifts into 2nd it doesn't want to ingage and gind of grinds, but after about 5-8 minutes the shifts into 2nd become smooth as butter. Is this normal, because if something goeswrong I have a warranty to cover the tranny.

RE: Normal???
That is normal with 3650's, but it isn't a good thing. A clunk into 2nd is normal but not full out grinding. This leads to bad synchros. I would complain and try to have them rebuild it. This happens a lot in cold climates.

RE: Normal???
Hell every modular mustang ive driven has a "clunk", we all know the stock shifters are horrible, but I'd drive it for a day or 2 and see how it goes, dont panic just yet

Hmmmm.. I know there is a TSB on bad 2nd gear synchros for the 3650 equipped stangs.. But the guys are right, it shouldn't be grining into 2nd like that. When you're stopped try putting it in 2nd and try getting going from a stop that way. If it grinds or throws the car out of gear the synchro is going bad. If it's still smooth as butter after a bit I wouldn't worry about it TOO much until it starts doing that all the time. Might be something you could complain about to the dealership though if you still have a warranty on it though brudda.

RE: Normal???
The recommended fix for this is changing your tranny fluid to 3.2 Quarts of Dexron ATF or something like that. When I first got some colder weather, the car would clunk into second gear on the first shift when the car wasn't warmed up. I replaced the tranny fluid and it smoothed it out a bit. I would try that and if it doesn't work then just bring it in under warranty.

Does anybody have the actual Tsb page so if I go to the dealer I have some evidence.

That's from the TSB link at the top of the MF page, regarding the T-3650, which if you're stock, would be the tranny you have. That ones about 1st / 2nd gears clashing and difficulty shifting. Don't know if that will help brudda, but if you want to look through the rest of them, most of Ford's TSB's from '04 are on that page up there.
