talked to a friend w/ a 04 Mach in the 12.70s w/ only a couple bolt ons at the track last night about his tires. He tells me that w/o going w/ a wide tire, the Nitto 555s are really great for a street tire w/o going wide. Says once he heats em up they get really sticky. Think I'll be getting some.

I am having my stock fronts narrowed to 5" so i can run the M&H 185/55/17. I have been on the waiting list for those AFS deep dish wheels for over 6 months and they have no idea when they are getting more. So I have planned on widening my stockers 2.5" and running a 1" spacer. I have long studs and it will not be a problem if you use the correct spacers. You do not want to create extra sheer points. If my Mach doesn't sell I will finish my wheel project and post my results as well as pics.

i may be totally wrong and make myself look stupid...but the offset would remain the same if you widened the stock wheels, correct? would they look exactly the same as the ones backordered from AFS?

It's not makin you look stupid if you learn something brudda.. And I'm sure somebody'll correct me if I'm wrong, but just widening the rim wouldn't change the offset any I don't believe. I'm not sure it'd be worth the trouble widen a stock rim, but yah, I don't think that'll change the offset.

If I find out exactly how much they are and all that, i'd probably be down for this.

Same here. I want 17X10.5" rims on the rear but don't want to have to buy 4 new rims to do it and 2 new front tires to do it. If anyone knows and sites for these (non chrome or black, I could find chrome but I wouldn't want shinier back rims then my fronts not to mention the added few lbs). Thanks for anything you can find. I've been searching a lot and no dice so far.
