yes, the tuner route is the one to go., it'll give you far more options than turn the 02's off.

how much would a good tuner cost? Also just to say, if it makes a difference or not my car is auto, im selling my 1972 mach 1 and see if i could afford an 03 or 04 manual mach 1

do not sell that car (72 mach 1) ... the classic machs are our heritage, and you've got both lucky bastard, i missed out on the classic mach the auto machs are slower than the manuals due to the tranny sapping more power, but the important thing is you've got one....whatever you do do not sell the classic

lol its ok, my dad and i still have a 71 we have to restore and it has a 4 speed manual andhas a 351 cleveland in it . Any ways what can i do to improve the auto tranny?

tuner will help A LOT, allow shift point changes, rev limiter bump, but for racing consistency is key, and the auto delivers that...well just dont sell the 72 either.

Id say the auto is slower due to the tight stock converter and shift points, but the auto's do suck more power. Id wager that if the stock converter was say 3400-3800, a 1/4 mile race would be dead even with the manual...tires being the limiting factor then.

personally, i love torque and the old school muscle sound (i've got a 67 coupe), so i would go with the H pipe.

radaman is right on loser converter, bumped redline, custom shift points, and your up there with us, and doing it more consistently.

thx again for the answers u gave me, i always loved the sound of an old school muscle car and loved torque. But do u guys have clips of ur exhaust or any on youtube? Also do u know some websites i can trust to buy some mid pipes
