Default Thinking of getting a Mach 1

Hi everyone,
I am looking at getting a 2004 Mach 1 in the near future and I was just wondering if there are any common problems that I should look for? Also how well does the Mach 1 respond to mods. I know they can go in the low 13's stock, but what would it take to make a Mach 1 a consistent 12.8 or so car?

very nice 6 banger. As far as problems, nothing really notorious. My 3rd gear synchro is finished, but I ain't blaming in on the trans, one too many powershifts. 1/4 mi. speaking, a set of street legal drag radials will get you in the 12s. The tires and an o/r midpipe will get you 12.7s on a descent track. 4.10s or 4.30s should get you 3 more tenths....if you already have the tires. I run a best 13.1 (1.98 60ft.) feathering the clutch off the line with a couple bolt-ons, but a buddy of mine with the same year Mach has run a best of 12.69 with Nitto DRs, an o/r h-pipe and a k&n drop-in filter. Hope this helps ya.

just 12.8....a set of Dr and a good driver.
the mach respond to bolt ons amazingly, a full bolt on mach averages ~330rwhp and a little more than that in tq

Well I didn't realize 12.8 was so easy to get. Maybe I'll have to shoot for 12.5 or better then. I don't know if I'm getting one now though because the one I wanted has changed hands like 5 times already and is now out of my price range. Thanks for the help though.

Yeah I was going to put regular mach 1 wheels on it take off the sunroof gaurd thing and take off the black on the arch. The grill needs to go too, but I figured those changes wouldn't be all that hard to do assuming they didn't mess up the paint. The 4.6 badges on the hood also look terrible so they would have gone too. And the exhaust tips stick out way to far. Maybe this is a good thing that I'm not getting that car actually lol.
