clutch noise
Hello everyone, i am 17 and recently bought a mach 1. So far everything is great and i couldnt be any happier with my mach. My only concern is a noise that is heard while the clutch is engaged. Its a low humming noise as if you were rubbing fine sand paper together. I had a guy listen to it and he said it could be a throw-out bearing... Has anyone had this problem? Any help would be much appreciated! thanks

Usually when you have noise around that area (clutch) it is the throw-out bearing but its also very possible that the clutch could be slipping due to bent or broken fingers in the pressure plate. This would allow the clutch disc to slide in between the flywheel and the pressure plate which in my mind would sound like sandpaper. If you can afford it go ahead and get a new clutch assembly. They usually come with a new throw-out bearing and it doesnt hurt to get an upgrade while youre at it. There are threads on here that can help you to find the right one for you. I have an auto so I cant help you with that. LOL Congrats on your new Mach. I know youre gonna love it and youre probably gonna get spoiled.

Sounds like the problem i'm having, i will be replacing the the clutch with either the Fidanza 2.1 w/aluminum flywheel or the 03-04 cobra clutch w/aluminum flywheel, I'm also on M1R l and there is a great wealth of info there as well.
