clutch opinions
I don't mean to turn this into a "I have (insert clutch brand/model here) and I like it and you should too" thread lol.
I believe I'm due for one, well TOB really but with 84K mi, a clutch wouldn't be a bad idea. Car is a DD with no power adders in sight ANY time soon. I want stock-like feel and driveability.
After reading around I've come down to:
SPEC Stage 1 420 tq rating ($230 @ AM)
SPEC Stage 2 530 tq rating ($335 @ AM)
RAM HDX 450 tq rating ($279 @ AM)
OEM 03/04 Cobra kit ($330 from speed shop online)
All include a TOB/pilot bearing. I have a $100 gift card to AM so that's why I'm REALLY leaning toward a SPEC/RAM from AM.
This TOB issue sort of "popped up" on me as I planned to use the $100 for a gear install kit....bugh.
I believe all the SPEC clutches use the same Pressure Plate which will equate into the same pedal feel but that it's the clutch material that will make it grab harder or if it allws for slipping the clutch.
Top of my list is the Spec 1 for it's price vs streetability and since I don't see me getting over 420 hp LOL.

Me my vote is for the King Cobra Clutch (Valeo).
They take one hell of a beating and its OEM
Putting one in my Cobra this winter, GT has one and its seen lots of drag run and still grabs like the day I put it in 3 years ago.
Also heard good things about the ZOOM Clutchs from Hotrod friends with big power

Hey smitty I have a brand new still in the box Spec stage 2+ laying around somewhere. Read up on it and if you want it it's yours for $280 shipped. A brand new Ford TOB is with it.

He went to a spec stage 3 and it's been good.
I've driven a supercharged 3.8 with a centerforce dual friction and it was absolutely lovely. Very expensive though.
I've driven two more GT's with spec stage 1 and 2. The stage 1 is basically stock and not a bad choice. The car had too much power and wore it out fast though.
The stage 2 was pretty good.
Because of my future power levels I'm going with a spec stage 3, just because it's cheap. While I want to go with a centerforce, I have a hard time justifying 2x the cash on an item that has a limited lifespan.

Well clutch is in with resurfaced stock flywheel, new Timken TOB and Ford Racing pilot bearing.
I JUST drove it home so no real performance reviews yet. Right off the bat though the RAM HDX is a little stiffer, which they promote 30% more pedal feel.
It feels stock going down, but I really feel it when letting off as it feels it wants to spring right up.
I'm happy so far. My TOB was getting "crunchy" by spinning it as well as it would squeak as it slides on the input shaft sleeve. Also put in a new pivot ball stud as the stock on with 85K mi was quite worn.
FW adjuster and quadrant will go in this weekend. I will also order a Steeda clutch pedal stop to put get rid of the top end pedal slop.h
