buying an 04 mach 1 in black and i noticed the hood stripe is gone...ok whatever thats cool but then...

my buddy calls and said he just bought a mach from an old man who was the orig owner...badass i wanna see it!


he brings it by my work and sure enough its black..but its an 03 so i knew it wasnt the one im trying for

then i noticed it....his hood stripe is gone as well....
so all in all i guess im asking is did the black machs not come with the stripe on the hood like all the others? just find it weird is all...

No, ALL 03/04 Mach 1's came with hood and rocker panel stripes, even the black ones! If you're missing the hood stripe, it most likely was removed by a previous owner who figured you couldn't really see it anyway.

yes sounds like previous owner removed the stripe since it also was black

When I bought mine the stripe on the hood was missing but you can still sort of see if you look close enough that it used to be there, but the spoiler is still flat black, and looks kind of strange as the only unpainted part on the car.

There are some cheaper versions out there, but not sure how close to original they would look.

Your factory rear spoiler is PAINTED. It's semi-gloss black, not flat. If you don't believe it's painted, rub some cleaner wax on it and watch your application pad or micro fiber turn black.

Well I guess you got me there--should've said not painted like the rest instead of unpainted. Paint/body isn't my specialty!

I wish american muscle had a darker silver stripe. I have a black mach and with the matte black stripes popped more, but the bright silver pops too much for my taste.
