O2 sensors
 

Hi Fellas,
Last week my 03 Mach 1 threw code P0153 and I scanned it and it's
the drivers side oxygen sensor which I learned from member jwog666
and I'm thankful to him!
I called around my area to find out the price to install all 4 sensors,
well I got a rude awakening to say the least!
Midas quoted parts and labor $428.00 using Motor craft parts.
local shop $399.00 parts and labor.
called NTB and asked just for labor, I'd bring the parts....they said no outside
parts !
another local shop quoted $140.00 for labor, without any problems so they said, and we all know how that works !
Finally I decided to do it myself, and my wife said I was crazy,
Now mind you I'm going on 61yo and it's a bitch getting under the Mach
since it sits kind of low, Saturday I received the sensors from Rock Auto
1 front from motor craft original equipment, and 1 front and 2 rear NTK
original equipment type, and I got out the Rhino Ramps and started this
morning, the fronts were no problem taking them off, But the funny thing
is putting the motor craft one, side ears didn't aligned so I had to clip them off and sand it down and it finally went in clicked securely,
now the other side using the NTK's I thought I was going to have problems
but it matched perfectly, What a surprise!
Now for the rears I had to use my 1 ton Jack and jack stand.
No problem taking them off and no problem putting the 2 new NTK's on !
It took me a total of 1 and 1/2 hours to do this job.
And I'm sure it would have taking a shop about half hour to do same job.
Total for parts Motor Craft upstream 1 $34.79. 1 NTK upstream $ 26.79
2 NTK's downstream $ 27.79 plus $ 8 dollars and something cents for S&H for a total of $ 125.95...... cheaper then the labor cost.
With all honesty I recommend NTK sensors they are lower priced and are
plug and play not like the motor craft that you have to clip and sand the side
ears.

I am shocked to hear there was a fitment issue. I have a lot of faith in OEM parts; not just for fitment, but for longevity. I don't have any experience with NGK/NTK products.

Glad to hear you managed to tackle the job. Rust often makes it a real PITA.

I figured at 92000 miles, Might as well change all of the them.
