Somehow I'm not seeing the well known "I'm a taxpayer, I pay your salary!" defense going too far with a Statie after a stop at 100+

hey guys...been away for a while, been dealing with a whole bunch of crap, and on my vacation (second to last day) dealt with more...driving back home from a small car show a friend wanted me to check out...10 min from home driving down a road, light is green, guy instantly locks up his car with nobody in front of him...locked up mine but the car just slid down the road and i got caught up under him...he's got chipped paint on his rear bumper and i've got a mashed front par of my hood (and the hood also folded up near the windshield, maybe about 4 in up) grille is messed up and front bumper is messed up as well...of course this would happen around the time of the AM show, so it looks like i'm gunna have to rent a car for that, and i've already done some shopping for new parts...

3" Cowl Hood...Roush Front Fascia or California Dream Fascia...Roush 9 Bar Grille

friend of mine had the sam damage done and she got $3500...i priced out all the parts i looked at and guessed on the labor and if i got that same amount i wouldn't have to come out of pocket

appraiser comes today so we'll see if i have a good day or a bad day lol

Did you go through insurance?

Being the rear-end-er, 99% of the time you are found at fault.

Bummer dude.

That really stinks, but glad it sounds like you're ok at least. Did the guy ever say why he locked 'em up?

Damn Shad, sorry to hear that. Hopefully everything works out for ya!

I've only heard of people getting crap for tints if they/the shop didn't remove the OEM tint. I'm hoping to get mine done shortly. Just passed inspection with O/R H, Magnaflows and waayyy out of camber. MM C/C plates shortly!

On a side note; anyone here have experience with a 99+ Explorer Sport? I'm thinking about picking one up for winter/DD and don't know a hell of a lot about the platform or even SUVs really.

That's a huge bummer, Shad. Sorry to hear.

Sorry if I have been incommunicado lately, not much going on with my Mustang. Still driving fine now as it closes in on 20,000mi. Been looking for a winter beater to replace the rusted-out Eclipse I sold last month. Once I get my backup, I will have the bumper that was nicked last year repaired. I might also have a Boss 302 diffuser added.

My brother has an explorer, pretty sure its a 99 and it has about 230K miles on it and still running strong with its little 4.0L

Hope that helps a little.

I've been highly considering buying a tuner for my car, but I've never really dealt with that kind of stuff before. What do you guys think?

Some of the v6'ers (like myself) are saying just an intake and tune combo can give the car an extra 20HP. Any truth to that?

Not sure on the gains for the 6-ers, but tuners are a great thing to have.

You can check/clear codes, as well as toss on tunes if you buy more stuff for the car that needs it.

Based on personal experience (back just after I bought my car):

More than 20HP with the right intake. A good intake and tune should put you close to 210HP to the wheels (about 28-30HP better).

You want to get an intake that REQUIRES a tune. The ones that can be used without a tune barely improve airflow.
