Default Winter Driving In Mass/NH

Does anyone drive year round? I plan to and can use all the advice I can get. I'm noticing a lot of tire sales and I'm wondering if I should jump on some winter/snow tires now.

I've searched the forums and the folks in Michigan/Ohio seem to do ok in the snow - how about around here?

Happy Patriots Day!

i drive all year round...first year i had the GT it was March of 2010 (HORRIBLE snow storm in the winter) i had the summers on because i didn't have the funds to get winters and i made it through no problems...2011 winter (non-existant really) i have all seasons on and did fine in the couple storms we had...i'd get the blizzaks, thats all i hear about from people and just get a feel for how the car is in the snow, i had to re-learn how to drive and it took a little time, but now i kinda know what my car can do in certain conditions...good luck

Just get a set of snows, it'll make a world of a difference.

If thats not enough, toss some cement bags in the trunk.

I throw about 125 lbs in the trunk and call it a day/winter. Like shad2009 said, you just have to learn how your car responds in the different conditions.

Get snow tires. Find empty, snow-covered parking lot. Go to town! Seriously, snow tires and driving experience make a big difference, even more so IMHO than FWD/RWD/4WD/AWD. I used to pass stranded SUVs and Subarus in my snow-tire-equipped 240SX. My Mazdaspeed3 sucks in winter on the stock summer tires despite being FWD. It's awesome with snow tires.

I may have to drive my Mustang in the winter as well. I'm used to RWD, but I'm more worried about corrosion. My dad and I have the idea of buying and sharing an old beater pickup that we can use for around-the-house work, towing my RX-7, and for a winter beater, but we haven't discussed that seriously.

Winter is why I have a GMC 4x4. But true snow tires and weight in the truck should help a lot.

For the price of snow tires, a old toyota pickup or 4 runner, explorer, ranger jeep etc is worth it to keep the car out of the slush
