Hey brother, sorry for the late response. I haven't been on here for quite some time. I'm not sure if are valve covers are different because mine was a 2006 and yours is a 2009. However any rubber grommet in an oven is going to get compromised. I had my valve cover is done when I installed my supercharger so I'm not exactly sure what it look like and what exactly did when they powder coated it. I'm not sure what color you want to get it done but if it is the standard color that Ford Racing carries you might be better off just getting one that's already done. Sorry if I couldn't be more help. Good luck

Ok, I looked tonight and took the hose off the outlet tube. It is powder coated, so that means I didn't remove it. I remember talking to the quy who did it, we worked together in a machine shop and he had his painting business on the side. He mentioned that you could mask things with a paper grocery bag, that it would withstand the heat of the powder coating process. So I think just taking out the VCT sensors will be good enough. Let me know how you make out. I also had my plenum cover custom painted, but I had an uncle who did it along with my headlight buckets.
