Brenspeed sure knows their 4.6's
I recently made a new acquisition in my garage to replace my puny Suzuki Aerio for daily use. Bought an used 2008 Ford Crown Victoria P71 Police Interceptor. It's the ultimate vehicular TROLL, because it looks just like the "stealth"() unmarked crown vics used in my area to catch those filthy speeders. Everyone behaves their best around this baby. And to think, I used to believe I was king of the road in my mustang...
(not my actual car)
In any case, after the necessary maintenance and having added some freer flowing exhaust, I got an SCT strategy programmer for it. Although it did make a difference for the throttle response, and the engine had a bit more grunt, the transmission shifting was horrible with the sct tunes. It would let the engine climb to near 4k rpms at light throttle/cruising, and go all the way to redline and beyond at WOT. Not really something I wanted on a 100k mile engine. After reading quite a few recommendations about some email tuning site for crown vics (blueovalchips), I decided to go against all common crownvic knowledge and order a Brenspeed tune. Their tuning made my Mustang into the powerhouse it is today, so why not?
Brenspeed's transmission shifting is absolutely spot on. Slightly longer shifts than the granny factory, but no overkill like the sct canned tuning. At WOT, the car used to run out of breath after 4800rpm or so. With the brenspeed tuning, I could feel it pull all the way to redline, almost like someone had installed cams on it! Then comes the next gear, and the car lurches forward. Very pleased with the results!
Score another success story for Brenspeed.

Brenspeed is by far the best tune I have ever had. Doesnt surprise me they can tune a cop car into a hotrod. I have a buddy whom has one I will have to let him know.
How is that new TC doing? Getting some new faster ET's?

The best I have ran with the new converter has been 12.23 @ 114mph. No 11's yet. And that 12.23 run was the one I "broke out" of my time, and was disqualified. They say it looked like I was taking it easy off the line, but I swear I was stomping on it, as I always have. I think the new TC stall combination might be a bit heavy for the engine at takeoff with slicks, but it doesn't matter since I will eventually be adding the Brenspeed 326 block and more power. Anything can be fixed with more power.
