1995 T-Bird LX 4,6L
My new Project is a T-Bird imported from Austin, Texas.
At first I want it to sound a bit more "T- bird", so I bought a pair of shorty headers from Summit and plan building a dual exhaust with 200 cel metalic catalysators placed as stock after outlet of the headers. Air box is replaced and a 3" tube and open K&N Filter is fitted. A bought a SCT iTSX programmer, this is the first stepp. At the moment the car is store over Winter 600 km North of where I live, in a garage by my summer cabin. My car is execepted from manufacturers responsibility of emission controll waranty, it basicly mean I can do what I want with Engine, though I still want it to be able to pass a regular check. I curious about what Power gain one can expect from these modifications. The Engine is a early Ford 281 modular Romeo, in the T-bird it is stock 205 hp, and in -96 Mustang 215, I Believe the only diffference is the crossover dual exhaus at the mustang. I´m still hoping for some 230-240 hp, does anyone have some ideas? |
I don't know a lot about the thunder birds but I would imagine with a full exhaust/tune you'd pick up 15-20 horse power over stock. Post some pictures.

The Thunderbird is very much like a mustag with a slightly larger trunk, a higher end gear ratio and a multi link rear axle like a Corvette. Built for speed and road more, rather than racing between traffic lights.
I will take photos, but it has to wait a while, till I get there, where the car is stored. The car is absolutly "stock" at time being. |
I almost bought a supercharged version of it back in my younger days so I know a bit about them, just not a lot about specific modifications. I've always liked them, I'd still like to find an old turbo one from the 80's to mess around with

I have become very fond of it, it even when driving at 140 km/h(87 mph) milage is 8 lit/100km (3,4 U.S.Gall/100 miles).
My Volvo S60 AWD cant beat that. |
I´m still waiting for the JBA shorty headers I ordered from Summit Racing, they should arive any day though.
I need to see what size outlets are fot the choice of catalysators 2 1/2 or 3" (200 cell metall). I also bought a 36 000 lbs pipe bender, for making middle and rear exhaust pipes. and a set of new Wheels 17" 245/45 in the rear, and 17"x 235/45 front. |
You can’t buy aftermarket exhausts for them?

I seem to recall the "SC" (Super Coupe, or Supercharged) was only available with a V-6. Don't believe the V-8 was ever "SC'd".
