if i may, what made you select that particular camera? i bought a nikon D40 earlier this year and they appear to be relative competition for each other..ive used some canons too, but ive only heard about the pentax...

It's funny you mention the Nikon. The guy I bought this from got a great deal on a D40 and decided to sell the Pentax. I did a little on-line research and talked to some people I know on another forum. The general consensus was that the 14-bit sensor totally rocks in color reproduction, but that I might have trouble finding a variety of lenses. This came with a Pentax 18-55mm and Tamron 70-300. Plenty for me. I also got a memory card and a couple filters. All for a great deal. I wasn't in the market but couldn't pass it up. This is my first digital SLR. It puts my Canon S2 to shame.

i also stepped up from a PAS to an SLR. my d40 came with a 18-55 and a 55-200VR lens, and while im very happy with the camera, i plan on buying something with more range soon...i would have liked something closer to your larger lens, but i went with the slightly smaller lens with the VR.
