After getting home from bein out of town and knowing the weekend is bring crap weather I decided to take the Mustang out for a cruise. Ran out to Old Route 66 for the first time ever then cruised into a small town where some googlin told me there was some nostalgia.

Talked with the old timer and took some pics, he told me where the real hot spots were and where they had some fully restored gas stations and stuff.

Real nice roads out in the middle of no where, took a little rubber off the tires and really opened the car up, got the chance to top her out safely in my opinion. All and all a nice 2-2.5 hours

How far from St. Louis would you say that gas station is?
I have been wanting to take a drive on some nice roads.
Did you find that place by accident or what?

I would say its a good 2 hours. I am new to this area and knew that Rt 66 was near by so I did some googling and literally was like well it says there is an old gas station here and its like an hour away so lets go for it. He told me there is really cool stuff in Springfield as well.

Also now I am orgionally from chicago suburbs, now in Decatur IL, but the roads out to here were some of the best roads I have ever driven on wide open could crank it up a bit without worrying. You know you are in the middle of no where when there arent speed limit signs just a few pass with care signs

Awesome! Gonna be doing a rally this coming May from Chicago to Amarillo Texas along old route 66. Can't wait!!

that's pretty cool, I'd love to drive on those roads at some point. pretty shortly I'll be making my annual pilgrimage to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Dragon
