New Tires & Wheels
This site was so instrumental in helping me choose tire sizes for my Mustang that I thought it only appropriate to return the favor now that I have mine done. It's a 2012 GT500 with the SVT performance suspension package. I lower almost all of my cars but the SVT suspension is an expensive option AND I bought this car primarily for travel so I really wanted to avoid the typical lowering headaches, especially with passengers and luggage added. The SVT cars are also already 11mm front & 8mm rear lower than the standard GT500, Yoo-Hoo!, so I decided to go with larger diameter tires to enhance the effect. Another irritating issue is the oversize front calipers. I was really itching for a big set of gray Boss 338's but the Brembo's made them impossible along with a lot of the other traditional deep lip style spoke rims. The end result was as follows:
American Racing Torq Thrust M's in Anthracite
Rear : 20 X 10 ET + 45 with 315/35/20
Front: 20 X 9 ET + 30 with 265/40/20

Ford sets the front end of the SVT cars with a lot of negative camber so I loosened everything up, slightly "jigged" the upper strut bolt and pulled out all the slack I could and it added about .4 degrees of positive camber back so now I'm at about .8 negative, which shouldn't be too detrimental to inner tire wear. Had everything high speed balanced on the car so it rides nice with this set up, especially at high speeds. The SVT springs are pretty stout so the have similar ride characteristics of most lowering springs.
