Hey, the transmission can handle a certain amount of horsepower and torque. It doesn't matter what size the engine is or how it makes its power. If it can handle 500 hp and 500 ft lbs of torque from a 4.6, then it can handle the same amount from a 5.4. The 5.4 will have more potential than a 4.6 but the transmission will be ok as long as it's within its limit and not pushed beyond that. I used stock manifolds because the BBK shortys I had would have rubbed against the frame. Ford Racing shortys are probably your best bet. There is a company that makes a long tube header specifically for this swap in our cars but last I checked they were like $800. I returned my car to a 4.6 but I still have some items I could sell you if you want them. Call me at 732 682 0575 and I can give you some advice and maybe trade or sell you some stuff.
