if you plan on keeping cruise, you will also need the 96-98 cobra cruise cable; or relocate the battery, and then relocate the cruise control module to where the battery one was, and your GT cable will work, but you'll need to splice in a bunch of extra wire so the connector reaches.

you mean a 97-98 mark viii intake. the 96 still has the TB in the rear. You will need to run a 99/01 throttle cable then.

and YES YOU NEED IMRC plates. if you're running the controller with them, you will need to wire them up. Or do what everyone else does and remove the butterflies within them and run it like that.

the distance from the firewall is the biggest hurdle, but then the length of cable from the bracket to the throttle body is different too. the 99/01 cable is needed because the 97-98 mark viii intake is in the identical spot as the 99/01 cobra. That is the one that will work with it. The 03 cable will NOT work, because of where everything is located.

Default throttle cable

Just wanted to drop in and say, when I did my swap I used the 97/98 mark viii throttle cable with matching intake and throttle body without a problem, and have been running that way for close to 2 years now.

So I'm installing the 96-98 cobra intake manifold, and for some reason some of the intake manifold bolts from the engine are too long. Any reason why?

the intake manifold bolts from the engine are too long? which engine? not sure exactly what you are swapping in/on. I was able to use the mark viii bolts on my cobra manifold but had to mix and match until i got the right bolt lengths in the proper spots.
